I have published a couple of posts on the Livestrong Shoot already, here and here. So, I begin this one in media res.

I lined everyone up under a stand of tall trees on the side of the house. I put Margaret in the front of the line, and began photographing. It all seemed very simple at the time. The shady light was soft and even. The plan for the final images was always black and white, keeping just the bracelets in color. I knew that I wanted to isolate the bracelets. The black t-shirts and black shorts made it happen. Margaret’s clenched fist under the sharply focused “Livestrong” speaks the proverbial a thousand words.

The image above was one of the last from that day. The first shots were done in my studio where I created the images below. (more…)

File this one under, “Can’t Leave Well Enough Alone!”

I know, I know. With all the projects we have going on at Barton’s Way Media, what am I doing re-taking pictures of my own bicycle? Ummmm errr, testing out the new lighting kit?

Jokes aside, I’ve always had trouble leaving well enough alone, and I just had to see what the shot would look like with the bike further away from the background. While I was at it, I figured I would snap a couple of very shallow depth of field close ups. Of course the next logical step is to create a collage of the shots in order to update the blog.

That’s all I got for now. It’s back to the old salt mine for me. -Jack
